Recent Trips

Annually, I like to spend most of September in the United Kingdom. Our latest trip includes the Ritz in London and continuing on to enjoy other Virtuoso properties in Devon and Cornwall. The trip ends on a very high note with several days at Chewton Glen, one of the premier country house hotels in England. It is located on the southern coast east of Bournemouth and is also a Virtuoso property.

Africa is the very best travel experience! We enjoyed visiting Botswana on an Abercrombie & Kent safari. Our first two Sanctuary camps, Stanley’s and Chief’s, are both permanent tented camps. The animal watching was suburb and so unique since many of the animals adapt themselves to the Okavango Delta flood waters that come into Botswana from Angola. Next it was on to Chobe Chilwero, a Sanctuary lodge near Chobe National Park and the Chobe River. This offered the best bird watching that I ever have seen with an incredible variety of species. This trip ended at Victoria Falls with our staying on the Zambia side at the Royal Livingston Hotel.

I always heard well-traveled people say that Africa changes a person. I never quite believed it, and just chalked it up to just another common travel cliché.

Well, I stand corrected: after seeing Botswana and South Africa during the summer of 2015, I can say with utter conviction that yes, Africa changes you. From the wildlife to the expansive landscapes to its people, Africa indeed changes you for the better.
We started our adventure in South Africa, where the expert guides at Abercrombie & Kent took us on safari. In the evening, we enjoyed the comfort and amenities at the Virtuoso Sabi Sabi Selata Lodge, a five star resort that is the perfect place to rest after a day spent on safari.

From South Africa, we traveled to Bostwana, where the raw power of Africa was in full display. We stayed at the Sanctuary Chiefs Camp in the Okavango Delta; whenever the luxurious accommodations lulled us into forgetting we were in the wild, the roar of lions during the night quickly reminded us that we were just guests. /font>

Our trip concluded in Cape Town, a vibrant, cosmopolitan metropolis and the southernmost city in the African continent. The ride on the cable car to the top of Table Mountain provides a spectacular and stunning bird’s eye view of this amazing city.

Africa is savage and raw, but also serene and a balm for the spirit. It’s that contradiction that makes it such a compelling destination.

I have just returned from a wonderful trip to Europe that included a 7 night sailing of the Enchanting Rhine with AMA Waterways.  You can start the trip in beautiful Lucerne and then board the ship in Basel, Switzerland.   I cruised from Basel to Amsterdam on the wonderful AMA Certo.  We made stops at Riquewihr, Strasbourg, Heidelberg, Rudesheim, Koblenz and Cologne.  There is nothing more stunning than the Rhine River Gorge that is lined with ruins of medieval castles and fortresses en route to Amsterdam.  I would suggest a stay in Amsterdam to enjoy all of the canals and wonderful museums.  A trip to the Anne Frank Haus is a must.  Amsterdam is a wonderful city to explore on foot or bicycle.  I am happy to help you understand the options and benefits a river cruise will offer you.

I have been on many cruises both Ocean and River, I actually cruised Alaska 5 times in one summer! I have cruised too many places to list here. People ask me, “What is my favorite cruise?” My answer is always the same….my next cruise!

I love Escorted Tours, it is a great way to travel if you are traveling alone or you do not wish to be bothered with all the details! Single ladies this may be just what you need, travel alone without being alone!

Instead of me telling you where I've been, call me and let me help you plan your next adventure.

Spending the holiday season in Munich, Salzburg and Lucerne was one of the magical times of my recent travel experience. There is nothing that can top the gaiety and enchantment of this part of the world during Christmas and New Year’s…. and Paris, the City of Lights, during this season is breathtakingly beautiful and beyond description.

A recent trip to England found us at Virtuoso preferred properties – the Lucknam Park near Bath which is a grand country house with a Michelin star restaurant and a modern state of the art spa; then off to the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park in London – a great hotel in a great location.

Next, a cruise around the Black Sea on Silversea’s Silver Wind which is one of the top rated small luxury cruise lines today. After a pre-cruise stay at The Grande Bretagne in Athens, also a Virtuoso hotel, our cruise ended in Istanbul.

Most recently, after a stay at the Raffles Hotel in Singapore, we boarded the Silversea’s Silver Whisper for a cruise to Hong Kong with stops in Bangkok and Ho Chi Minh City among others.
